RIP Arthur Clay’s
Sep 6, 2007 general food, restaurants

Impressing diners from the start, it was one of the best new restaurants when it opened, but Steve Scherrer and his wife Kerri couldn’t seem to outrun the ever-present costs of a daily changing menu in St. Louis. Shuttered earlier this year, it was a sad day yesterday when I arrived at the Schlafly Market only to see the final sign of the once great Arthur Clay’s being spray painted away with a crowd of excited onlookers.
I will always miss this restaurant as it was the one place in St. Louis that truly dared to give us flavors that tested our palates in a way generally found only in other cities.
