Cappuccino - Kayak’s

They said “Kayak’s is great!”

I said “worst yet.’

This shop is the most chainlike non-chain I’ve ever been in St. Louis. Is it not also sort of weird to have a Klondike themed establishment here? Regardless, they almost manage to make up for this fact by playing music that is actually a pretty good mix of classic rock, blues, and hippie loving jambands.

As to the espresso, I had no idea what Alterra Coffee Roasters was until tonight, but on their website they tout “Strong Coffee Served Here.” Strong however does not equal good, and this cappuccino was a mess.

It was giant, it was over extracted and bitter, and it had about 5 inches of foam piled atop the over steamed burnt milk.

Don’t the students at Washington University deserve better? Heck, with so many of them coming from other parts of the country, don’t they know better?

I’m coming for you next Mississippi Mud House. I was told you will satisfy and your web page looks promising.
