Intelligentsia at Whole Foods
Oct 11, 2007 coffee, general food
| As previously mentioned, Whole Foods carries some coffee from the Chicago based roaster of award winning coffees, Intelligentsia.
While they always stock the Black Cat Espresso and a blend I forget the name of, the other choices rotate based upon seasonality. While that might sound strange considering how we see most coffee sold, the reality is that like any crop, it has a harvest season when it’s at its peak. So without spiraling off on that rant, here’s a heads up that last night I spotted La Perla de Oaxaca, which has a nice chocolaty body and La Tortuga from Honduras which I’ve never had before. These are both from a fresh shipment dated only a few days ago so hurry in and pick some up before it gets stale. Two weeks is about as long as you’d want to keep roasted coffee on hand. After that, you’re simply cheating yourself of flavor. note: You can always see how fresh Intelligentsia is by looking at the roasting dates on the labels on the bottom of the package. This bag is from October 3, 2007 (07.10.03) |

I hope that is a stock photo, and not one you took.
Did you get a post removed at Chowhound?

No, that’s my picture (from home). And I did once again have a post removed from Chowhound.

Ahh, I’m too American for my own good sometimes. Not American enough to wait at a Wendy’s, however.
