Richard Blais Lives

blais

richardblais.net that is.

It’s still under construction but there are some cool shots of some of his food worth checking out if you too were routeing for him.

It’s got an incredibly odd meloncholly tune playing that doesn’t jive with the food at all which I can only assume is because of the loss.

Plus, just like Spike…

Presently Blais is developing a modern hamburger concept called ‘Flip’ which will open soon in midtown Atlanta.

Which raises two questions:

  1. Why are all these chefs turning to upscale burgers?
  2. When will they @%#*ing stop?

He could do so much more.

Didn’t he already have a failed restaurant?
Maybe he’s looking to reach a broader audience. Maybe he’s looking to make some money. A place that’s more approachable ( a burger bar) vs a more upscale dining experience is going to do just that. Not to mention the state of the economy. Restaurants are dropping like flies. Those that are mid range, stick to the basics, are flourishing because people still have to eat.
I’d love to eat at his burger place. You know he’s going to come up with some crazy, fun stuff. That’s why I think these guys are choosing this route. They can still be creative, and have customers come back again and again, bring their kids, maybe.
There’s no shame in cooking burgers for a living if you do it right.
