Buena suerte El Borracho
Dec 9, 2008 St. Louis, missouri, restaurants
Maybe it’s just one man’s opinion (mine) but, in these tough economic times, these are not the kinds of details that say, “this restaurant is going to be a St. Louis classic for decades to come.”
…features affordable fresh authentic Mexican food that is “drunk” with flavors- patrons will be able to customize signature items such as tacos, burritos, and tamales, in either authentic Mexican or Americanized “Gringo” style.
[The] 2100 square-foot space, which formerly housed Nectar Lounge, has been completely transformed and now evokes a “Tarantino-meets-Tijuana” vibe…

I was thinking the same thing. Tacos and burritos as signature items-how original is that? And I don’t think this town needs any help with another gringo version of mexican food. Their problem will be with the “authentic” stuff given that none of the backers/owners appear to be mexican. Not that someone needs to be mexican to understand the food, but if they haven’t spent significant time in one of the mex. foods meccas in the US I’d expect some pretty dismal food.

Friday night, 7pm, called twice and it goes to voicemail?? Called again and again, now we’re just busy….and back to voice mail. Moving on. My belly can’t wait.
“Borracho did you shit the bed already?”….

went there on valantines day and was not impressed.
the tacos are good and priced right. however, the drinks were horrible.
they boasted of premium tequilas and liquors, but the margaritas are so syrupy sweet it will give you an instant headache and ruin the fine tequila.
sent the drinks back 2X since they were $12 each and they came back even worse.
i am so tired of $6-12 corn syrup margaritas.
