More notes…

  • Yes, St. Louis County, the food in St. Louis City is almost always better.
  • Food can not be graded on a curve.  Even if something is the best a city has to offer, it might still be bad.
  • Your favorite restaurant might actually suck.
  • Even if it doesn’t, it’s probably just good.
  • Food is an important matter.  It doesn’t make you elitist to think so.
  • Organic has nothing specific to do with flavor.  You can eat tasteless organic foods.
  • Asparagus is not a December vegetable.
  • Being a critical eater is not the same as being a picky eater.

Have you been reading the comments section here?

Well, happy new year to you, too! :P

How ’bout some positive notes? Anything? How ’bout a half-dozen. Come on, Bill, I dare you!

  3. Dan D. Says:

Don’t make me read sixteen pages of STLToday comments. I just can’t do it.

Subburbia: A place where they cut down all the trees and name the streets after them…

  5. KBO Says:

These two posts made me love you in a completely platonic way.

And, as a rule, I try to avoid P-D comments.

  6. Merridith Says:

    Isn’t Edwarsville a suburb?

  7. Merridith Says:

    Oops, I meant Edwardsville.

  8. Stef Says:

Is your favorite restaurant just good? Why is mine?

  9. Bill Burge Says:

Yes, actually, I do think my favorite restaurant is just very good. I think that I have had great dishes, and even some great meals but, overall, they are just very good.

I can’t either, and in this case, suggest that you don’t.

  11. Ian Says:

No, no, no — read the comments! Or skip to the last couple of pages, where a dude who thinks Joe Bonwich has some kind of grudge against the Scottish Arms is holding court. Words can’t describe how insane this dude is. In-freakin’-credible.

  12. Mike Sweeney Says:

Ian, I have to wonder if that’s the same guy that came onto Bill’s forum a while back singing the praises of the Scottish Arms and the Shaved Duck. It seemed so random at the time.

  13. Dan D. Says:

    Ian, I doubted you. I shouldn’t have.

  14. Annie Says:

Mike..that guys name was Alex…and I don’t think they are one in the same. Alex was a much better writer than the guy on STLToday. Plus…Alex was just in love with Wes.

  15. Mike Sweeney Says:

Yeah, I just read both. Alex was passionate, this dude from the comments was just insane.
